Dr. Vahdat is a board certified physician in internal medicine. She finished her undergraduate degree at University of California, Berkeley with a degree in Molecular and Cell Biology. She completed her medical school training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York in 1998 and finished her residency in La Jolla, CA at the Scripps Clinic. Dr. Vahdat has extensive experience taking care of hospitalized and acutely ill patients in a variety of academic and community hospitals, including Kaiser Permanente and UCLA. As Assistant Clinical Professor at UCLA, she has taught medical students and residents both about conventional medicine and integrative medicine. She has also authored several research papers in the area of cardiovascular medicine.

In more recent years Dr. Vahdat developed great interest in alternative medicine when a friend was diagnosed with breast cancer. This resulted in her pursuit of a fellowship at UCLA East Medicine where she was trained in traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture. She has used acupuncture, natural supplements, and nutrition to treat a variety of diseases and ailments: musculoskeletal pain disorders, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, irritable bowel disease, migraines, anxiety, and gastrointestinal disorders to name a few. She also utilizes acupuncture treatments in the hospital inpatient setting to avoid and limit use of pharmacologic agents.

Dr. Vahdat has taken care of patients in all stages of health and illness, from minor ailments to major life threatening conditions. It is because of this training and experience that she feels she can be a valuable partner in offering appropriate and effective health advice. She appreciates and values every patient’s uniqueness and understands there is not one treatment option for everyone. While she is able to provide conventional primary care services for her patients, she prefers a more holistic approach. Dr. Vahdat will always favor a non-pharmacologic approach when appropriate, but also will not hesitate to pursue further diagnostics or referrals to specialists when needed. She always aims to provide effective, safe and compassionate services to all her patients.
